Construction

Through the ages  the construction of building has  changed. Knowledge and skills have improved.

Stacking: Bricks (bricklaying)

Skeletal construction:

• Wood
• Concrete
• Steel

Advantage : Walls have no  supporting / load bearing function  anymore.

Frank Gehry

A special building style is  'Deconstructivism'. The Canadian architect Frank Gehry became famous for it. 

Let's take a good look at some of his buildings.

Why do you think this style is called 'Deconstructivisme' ?

Assignment

You get 2 A4 sheets of paper.

A: Crumble 1 A4 sheet. Then fold it open a bit, so that you get a spatial form that could be the shape of a building.

B: Now try to draw your accidental  building design on the other sheet of paper with a pencil.  Make it look 3D by adding hatching to create shadow and depth as a result.

Het beste is om een JFC-schrijfblaadje voor het verfrommelen te gebruiken.

Voor de tekening A4 tekenpapier, potloden en eventueel (markeer) stiften.
