Can:
"Can" wordt gebruikt om aan te geven dat iets fysiek of mentaal mogelijk is voor een persoon.
Voorbeeld: "I can swim." (Ik kan zwemmen.)

Could:
"Could" wordt vaak gebruikt als een verleden tijd van "can" en kan ook gebruikt worden om beleefdheid uit te drukken.
Voorbeeld 1 (verleden tijd): "Yesterday, I could swim for hours." (Gisteren kon ik urenlang zwemmen.)
Voorbeeld 2 (beleefdheid):
 "Could you please pass the salt?" (Zou je alsjeblieft het zout kunnen doorgeven?)

Be Able To:
"Be able to" wordt gebruikt om iemands vermogen of mogelijkheid aan te duiden, vergelijkbaar met "can."
Voorbeeld: "She is able to speak three languages." (Ze kan drie talen spreken.)

Be Allowed To:
"Be allowed to" betekent dat iemand toestemming heeft om iets te doen.
Voorbeeld: "Children are allowed to play in the park." (Kinderen mogen in het park spelen.)

Have to:

"Have to" wordt gebruikt om aan te geven dat iets noodzakelijk is of verplicht moet worden gedaan. Het duidt op een externe verplichting of een externe reden waarom iets moet gebeuren.
Voorbeeld: "I have to finish my homework before I go out."





Must:
"Must" wordt ook gebruikt om verplichting aan te geven, maar het drukt meestal een persoonlijke overtuiging of interne verplichting uit. Het wordt vaak gebruikt om sterke aanbevelingen of regels uit te drukken.
Voorbeeld: "You must be at least 18 years old to enter the casino."




Should:
"Should" geeft aan dat iets wenselijk is of wordt aanbevolen, maar het is niet strikt verplicht. Het drukt advies, suggestie of een goede praktijk uit.
Voorbeeld: "You should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables for a healthy diet."
