Using glucose

• Changing glucose into other substances (= metabolism)
• Breaking it down to release energy

What does a plant do with this energy?

Mitochondrion

An organel in cells. Breaks down glucose to 'make' energy.

The amount of mitochondria differs greatly among cells. 

For example: Musclecells have lots of them.
