What? Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip first met in 1934. When the Princess was 21, their engagement was announced on 9 July 1947 and they married on 20 November that year.

What? On 6 February 1952, King George VI died. Princess Elizabeth was on a Royal Visit to Kenya when she acceded to the throne, becoming Queen Elizabeth II. The Coronation took place in Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953.
