Used to

1) I can talk about actions that happened in the past, but don't happen anymore.

2) I can use conjunctions to make longer sentences

Used to + hele werkwoord > om aan te geven dat iets vroeger zo was, maar nu niet meer

vb: This used to be a field, but now there are houses.

Let op: bij vragende en ontkennende zinnen verdwijnt de  -d 

vb: Did you use to live in Eindhoven?

I didn't use to like dogs, but now I do

Dus

Bij een vragende (?) en ontkennende zin (-) gebruik je Didn't/did

Did...use to + hele werkwoord

Didn't use to + hele werkwoord

(-) There didn't use to be a gym here.

(+) My brother's best friend .....to live next door.

Conjuctions > voegwoorden

Conjuctions: the glue between sentences.

They allow you to make longer sentences

example: I like dogs. My sister likes cats . 

I like dogs and my sister likes cats

• Because (omdat) - I like to eat chocolate because it tastes good.

• And (en) - He likes playing football and tennis. 

• both... and (zowel....als) - He likes playing both football and tennis.
