Who was William Shakespeare?
  • 1564-1616 
  • English playwright, poët & actor 
  • Known as 'the greatest writer in the English language'.
  • His plays have been translated into most languages and his  works continue to be performed on stage. 
  • Most famous plays: Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, etc.
  • He contributed a lot to the English language as it is today.

at the individual words (nl: spreekwoord). 

Lot's of Shakespeare's expressions have entered the English language and become common English idioms.
