The Old and New Testament
  • Christians separate the Bible in the Old Testament and the New Testament.
  • The Old Testament is called 'Tanakh' (Hebrew Bible) in Judaism. The first five books of the Tanakh are the Torah.
  • In het Old Testament, prophets predict a messiah, a new king, that will come and destroy all evil in the world. 
  • Christians say: these predictions are fulfilled! That's Jesus.

The New Testament
  • The New Testament consists of four parts:
  1. Gospels (literally: 'good news'). Religious biographies on the life of Jesus (first followers, miracles, crucifixion). 
  2. Acts of the Apostles (history of the first group of followers after the death of Jesus).
  3. Letters of Paul.
  4. Book of Revelation (apocalypse).
