Past Perfect
When do we use it?
To talk about an action that finished before another action (usually in the past simple).

The thief had escaped before they entered the house.
After he had burnt the evidence, he threw the ashes into the bin. 

Form?
had + past participle

*Past participle is the third form of the verb.
to be - was/were  -  been
to go - went           - gone
to work -worked - worked
