Your heart is a double pump. This means the hearts right side pumps blood to the lungs and it's left side pumps blood to your whole body.
This why the left side is a lot more muscular.

The heart has four chambers called: the right atrium, the left atrium, the right ventricle and the left ventricle.

A heartbeat consists of your atria contracting and when they pause, your ventricles contract. This is de lub dub sound your heart makes.
