Let's check!

Take out your midterm test. Have a pen ready and check your answers. Make sure you ask questions when your answers differ from those I give!

If you weren't here last session, grab a test from here and have a go at the midterm test!

Paraphrasing

What is it?

How can we paraphrase?

Why do we paraphrase?

TASK

5-10 minutes

Start individually, then discuss in table groups

You will receive a handout with 3 paraphrases of 1 different source

Compare the paraphrases to the original source, taking note of the strategies they used. Then discuss- which paraphrase is best?

What do the terms unity and coherence mean?

How can you make your writing coherent?

Sentence 2: no "of" (parallelism)

Sentence 3: passive voice "Several mummies"

Sentence 4: "Their skin..."

Sentence 5: "Indeed, actually"
Sentence 7: "Their fatal inflictions were apparant.."

Work on the homework for next time, which consists of doing unit 6, watching a video and handing in 1 body paragraph for peer and teacher review (mandatory for next lesson!)
