Perimeter and Area

Perimeter

You can work out the perimeter of a figure by going around the figure and adding up the lengths of the sides.

The perimeter is expressed in units of length such as km, m and cm.

Units of length

km-hm-dam-m-dm-cm-mm

each step to right means multiply by 10

each step to left means divide by 10

Area

You find the area of a figure by working out how many times a chosen unit of area fits into the figure.
