Explain the title of the video.

How does she use humour in the introduction, and to what effect?

How does Jean Kilbourne’s introduction use ethos? Why would the audience take her seriously?

Find at least three uses of imagery used by Dr. Kilbourne in the first 10 minutes of the documentary, and explain their intended effects.

Which devices are used in the “Your breasts may be....” advertisement? Which devices are used in the “Your breasts may be....” advertisement? What’s the intended effect?

What’s the intended effect of the audience shots?

Choose one of the most blatant objectification ads, and write a short analysis (Use your 7 steps) of approximately 350 words on how the ad uses the woman to sell their product, via which devices.

Find at least two Anglophone ads which feature “dismembered” men as the focus.

Does the influence of Americanised cultural imagery in ads play out in the Netherlands as well? Does it have the same effect? Find a Dutch ad which clearly uses American imagery, and write a short analysis on how the cultural appropriation is used, and to what effect.
