Migration
There are two main forms of migration: internal and external migration. Internal migration means moving to another place in the same country. External migration means moving to another country. Emigration means leaving the country you live in. Immigration means moving into a new country.
■ Reasons for leaving the place you live in are called push factors because they ‘push’ migrants away. Two examples are poverty and unemployment.
Pull factors are reasons that make another region attractive for migrants. Work is an important pull factor.
