Use: Routine and  Facts

Form: I, We, You, They = verb 

She, He, It = verb+s

Ezelsbruggetje: simple because it is one verb!

Present simple

P: I work every day   /   Mike plays tennis.

N: I don't work   /   Mike doesn't play tennis.

Q: Do you work?   /  Does Mike play tennis?

Keywords: always, never, sometimes, often,  

on Saturdays..., every, usually

Present continuous

Use: happening now or at the moment

Form: to be(is/am/are) + verb+ing

Ezelsbruggetje: CONTINUous because it is still happening 

at the moment of speaking.

Present continuous

P: I am  /  I'm listening to music. 

N: Tom is not  /  isn't writing his grammar notes.

Q: Are you going to eat that?

Keywords: now, at the moment, These days...

What is a pronoun?

Possessive pronouns

Possessive = bezittelijk

pronoun = voornaamwoord

Possessive pronouns

There are two ways to tell somebody that something is yours. 

1. This is my book./Dit is mijn boek.

2. That book is mine./Dat boek is van mij.

The first pronoun says something about the object. 

The second pronoun comes last in the sentence.
