Today, we are going to do a recap of the grammar in CH1.

We beginnen met de short yes/no answers

Grammar: short yes/no answers

In het Engels is het niet beleefd om alleen yes or no te zeggen op een vraag. Hiervoor gebruik je naast yes or no een korte zin. Dit noemen we de short yes/no answers.

Grammar: short yes/no answers

In deze korte zin herhaal je het eerste werkwoord uit de vraag. Daarvoor zet je het juiste voornaamwoord (I/you/he/she..). Staat die er niet duidelijk in? Bedenk dan welke je moet gebruiken (my mother = she).

Did Anne know the way to the cinema?

Yes, she did / No, she did not (not bij een ontkenning)

Would they like to come to my party?

Yes, they would / No they would not (not bij een ontkenning)

Grammar: short yes/no answers

Wanneer er een vraag direct aan JOU gesteld wordt (bijvoorbeeld Are you going out tonight?) verandert het werkwoord mee naar de juiste vorm.

Je zegt niet: Yes, I are

Je zegt: Yes, I am

Future

- Present simple

Gebeurtenissen zijn een onderdeel van een rooster, dienstregeling, of ander schema. Er is een tijdsbepaling.

The tour starts at eight

The plane arrives at a quarter to ten

Future tense

- Present continuous (to be + ww + -ing)

Afspraken in de nabije toekomst waarvan de tijd/plaats al vast staat. Denk aan vliegtickets waar je al een tciket voor hebt gekocht. 

Jules is taking Daisy out on Friday around 8pm.

- To be going to

Wanneer iemand in de toekomst iets van plan is. Staat gelijk aan het Nederlandse werkwoord 'gaan'. Je hebt bewijs voor deze voorspelling, of je hebt er zelf geen controle over.

Bij beloftes, aankondigingen en een voorspelling waar je GEEn bewijs hebt. Je denkt dat het gaat gebeuren, maar je hebt hier geen bewijs voor.
