PAST SIMPLE + IRREGULAR VERBS

Something at a certain moment in the past.

e.g. I watched TV with my friends last night.

We know two types of verbs: regular verbs and irregular verbs.

regular verbs receive + ed in the past tense

irregular verbs get their own form, which you'll have to learn by heart. When using the past simple, look at the second row:

I think you are quit familiar with the present continuous....

Let's test it:

We use the present continuous when...?

1. something started in the past and ended in the past
2. something is going on now
3. something that will happen in the future
4. something happened in the past and the result is still visiible

We make the present continuous with the form of 'to be'

We use the present continuous when talking about an action going on now.

PRESENT & PAST PERFECT

Welcome to the slides about the present perfect and the past perfect. Look at the grammar, watch the videos and answer the questions.

We use the present perfect (have or has + past participle/voltooid dw) to talk about past actions or states which are still connected to the present.

We use the past perfect (had + ww+-ed/voltooid dw) to talk about one action that happened before another action in the past. Or with verbs that deal with 'denken' and 'zeggen'. 

e.g. When we arrived at the airport, the plane had already left.
