A moderate government (only rich citizens)  took over but there were still problems in France 

  1. At war with Austria, Prussia, Spain and Great Britain. 
  2. Food prices increased and taxes
  3. Political conflicts: some people wanted more power or a king

Napoleon was a succes story. 
Achieved some great victories and through a coup he ended the French revolution (1799)

  • Made a new constitution ( set up a dictatorship with this)
  • Napoleon made the laws and decided on war or peace
