GOALS

• Je weet wat adjectives en adverbs zijn en hoe je ze in het Engels moet gebruiken.
  
• Je kunt adverbs op de juiste plek in de zin zetten.

adverbs + adjectives

Adjectives: Bijvoeglijk naamwoord. Het zegt iets over de zelfstandige naamwoord. 

Adjective

ADJECTIVE (bijvoegelijk naamwoord):

• An awful song.
• My red boots.
• The soft teddy bear.
• My dad's fast car.

Adverb = bijwoord

An adverb gives information about The How.  It says something about a verb, another adverb or an adjective.

 Mary sings wonderfully.

My grandparents talk incredibly loudly.

I am eating an amazingly delicious steak!

                                                        

Adverb = bijwoord

How to form an adverb:

adjective + ly = adverb

wonderful + ly = wonderfully

Adverb = bijwoord

Irregular = the word stays the same (no -ly)

quite - quite

fast - fast

long - long

good - well

daily - daily

hard - hard

(hardly means barely -> nauwelijks)

Adverb = bijwoord

EXCEPTIONS

consonant + y  --> -ily      funny --> funnily

-le --> -ly                                 gentle --> gently

- ic --> -ically                         automatic --> automatically

- ue --> -uly                             true --> truly

- ll --> lly                                    full --> fully

The place of adverbs

Adverbs of frequency: always, never, often, sometimes etc.

Come before the word they are linked to

We usually watch tv at night
