Why do students take a gap year?

Background 

Working abroad can help young people's careers and offer valuable experiences. One in six British graduates now takes a gap year, which allows them to travel, work and develop, and can help the put together a much more impressive CV

Working in a foreign country can offer many benefits at the start of your professional careers

• develop self-confidence, initiative, and independence
• improve language skills
• raise intercultural awareness
• develop transferable skills
• gain new insights and a different perspective

It can also impress future employers and improve job prospects. Working abroad demonstrates that the candidate has:
