What are adjectives?

Adjectives are describing words that modify nouns or pronouns. They tell us the size, shape, color, or other qualities of a noun or pronoun.

Explain what adjectives are, give examples, and encourage students to think of their own examples.

Examples of adjectives

Examples of sentences with adjectives: The red car, a tall building, a delicious pizza.

Provide examples of sentences with adjectives and ask the students to identify the adjectives.

What are adverbs?

Adverbs are words that modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They tell us how, when, where, or to what extent something happens.

Explain what adverbs are, give examples, and encourage students to think of their own examples.

Examples of adverbs

Examples of sentences with adverbs: She sings beautifully, he ran quickly, the dog barked loudly.

Provide examples of sentences with adverbs and ask the students to identify the adverbs.

Difference between Adjectives and Adverbs

Adjectives modify nouns or pronouns, while adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.

Identifying Adjectives and Adverbs

In the sentence 'The cat ran quickly', 'cat' is a noun, 'ran' is a verb, and 'quickly' is an adverb.
