Strategies for "Reading test"

1. TIP: Keep track of the time.
2. SKIMMEN: look at the title(s), pictures and lay-out. What do you already know about the subject? 
3. Difficult words: Try to understand difficult words by looking at the context. Read the sentences around the word. Does the word look like a word you already know? 
4. SCANNEN: Scan the text looking for a specific word, number or name. Look for capital letters if applicable. 
5.  Read the first and last line of the paragraph.
   
6. Close reading: read word by word, line by line, to find the answer to the question. 
7. Remember!! The answer is always in the text!

                                       

Linking words (signaalwoorden)

Signaalwoorden geven de verbanden van zinnen of alinea’s in een tekst weer en zorgen ervoor dat de tekst een samenhangend geheel is. Kortom, signaalwoorden brengen structuur aan in een tekst. Het is belangrijk dat je signaalwoorden kunt herkennen, en dat geldt ook voor Engelse signaalwoorden. Maar welke signaalwoorden zijn er allemaal in het Engels?
