Musical Landscape
Over time many composers were inspired by the world around us: nature, the climate, the weather. Today we listen to some famous compositions with nature in the lead.

‘Pink candy filled with snow’, that’s how a colleague-composer described the music of Edvard Grieg. In his music you can hear the influence of the Norwegian folk music. Grieg composed this music as a tribute to the Norwegian folk hero Peer Gynt.
One of the most famous parts of Peer Gynt is Morgenstimmung, often used as music for films, videos or even advertisement. This music describes a sunrise in the Sahara, but most people think of the Norwegian fjords when they hear it. The reason for that is because the melody is based on the four tones of the Hardanger violin; the national instrument of Norway.
