Present Continuous

We gebruiken de present continuous om aan te geven dat iets aan de gang is, of bezig is.
Present = heden (nu)
Continuous = continu (doorlopend)

Dit betekent dat de present continuous niet een vorm is van het verleden.

Present Continuous

Voorbeeld:

 I am doing  my homework. (to do)

Hiermee geef je aan dat je op dat moment bezig bent met het maken van je huiswerk.

Present Continuous

Hmm.. hoe maken we de present continuous ?

2 stappen:
Je gebruikt altijd am/are/is.
Je plakt -ing achter het hele werkwoord.

Voorbeelden:
She is helping her parents.
Mike and Jimmy are doing their best.
I am watching my favorite Netflix series right now.

(Neem de hele zin over).

Je hebt goed geoefend met de present continuous.
Misschien is het je al opgevallen dat we het tot nu toe alleen over de bevestigende zinnen hebben gehad.

In de volgende slides ontvang je informatie over de ontkennende en vragende zinnen.

Het ontkennend maken van een zin in de present continuous is heel makkelijk!
Je plakt namelijk alleen maar een ''not'' in de zin.

Charla is cooking with her mom. (+)
Optie 1: Charla is not cooking with her mom. (-)
Optie 2: Charla isn't cooking with her mom. (-)
(Optie 2 is het betere antwoord, maar gebruik optie 1 als je twijfelt.)

Present Continuous

Het vragend maken van een zin in de present continuous gaat net zo makkelijk!
Hierbij verander je alleen de volgorde van de woorden in je zin en plak je een vraagteken achter de zin.

Charla is cooking with her mom. (+)
Is Charla cooking with her mom? (?)

Present Continuous

Charla is cooking with her mom. (+)

Is Charla cooking with her mom? (?)

Zoals je kan zien verplaats je ''Charla'' en ''is'' met elkaar wanneer je een vraag stelt in de present continuous.
Nog een voorbeeld:
We are playing football with our friends. (+)
Are we playing football with our friends? (-)
