Alliteration is a literary device in which a series of words start with the same consonant sound.

Alliteration

Alliteration is used in tongue-twisters like:

She sells seashells by the sea-shore.

But it is also used to emphasize something important that a writer wants to tell us (the readers) about.

Rat

Discuss with your neighbour:

1. What sort of character is Rat?
2. What evidence (bewijs) can you find in the text?
3. Give Rat a new name that better describes his character. Use alliteration!

Choose three characters from the book and write down:

1. What is their physical appearance (what do they look like?)?
2. What are their traits?
3. What is their motivation (why do they do certain things?)?
4. Their relationships to the other characters.
