Alliteration is when the beginning sound of words are repeated in close succession. For example: 

Peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.

When a writer attempts to describe something so that it appeals to our sense of smell, sight, taste, touch, or hearing.

Glittering white, the blanket of snow covered everything in sight.

I touched the cold blue metal of Iron mans suit, it was so cold it sent a chill through my body.

Similie

A simile is a descriptive phrase that people use to compare one thing with another. Using the word as or like.

Slept like a baby.
