Women: managed household, coped with shortages, husbands/brothers fighting, nursed soldiers, supported war efforts by fundraising / sewing 

People of colour: worked as labourers, farmers, servants, fought as soldiers, were enslaved. Aim: escape slavery and achieve freedom & justice

Plantation owners: managing the plantation, overseeing enslaved labour, agicultural production; they strove to protect their economic interests.
