1. Marij's family is not very wealthy and are thus they not able to leave the country. They are jealous of the ones that were able to leave.
2. Marij's parents don't believe leaving the country automatically means having a better life. Their life now is good as is. They feel like the ones that have fled are letting their country down.
3. They don't want to leave behind their loved ones, and Marji's friends but they are understanding of why others have left.

1. The elections are won by the Islamic Republic. Marji's father is very satisfied with the results.

1. The people of Iran are forced by its regime to dress and act a certain way. This eroded personal freedom, just like a flock of sheep, they follow their leader.

1. The Iranian regimes has completely forbidden the population to educate themselves on other beliefs like Marxism.
