Other ways of forming the future tense!
Next to will/won’t and be going to, we can also use:

1. The present simple
2. The present continuous
3. The future continuous
4. The future perfect (simple)
5. The future perfect continuous

Use the given table to make notes during the presentation!

Slide 13 - Diapositive

1. The present simple
- With time expressions like when, as soon as, by the time, until, after & before. We cannot use will in these situations:
When I go to university, I’ll study chemistry.

- To talk about the future when the action is part of a timetable or routine: Tomorrow, I have my English class at 2 o’clock.

Slide 14 - Diapositive

2. The present continuous
to be + verb-ing

- Can be used as a future form: to talk about plans that have been confirmed:
Tomorrow, I’m having my first job interview. They called for it last week.

Slide 15 - Diapositive

3. The future continuous
will/won’t + be + verb-ing

- We use the Future Continuous to talk about activities in progress at a moment in the future. They are unfinished
At this time tomorrow, I will be flying to the US.

Slide 16 - Diapositive

4. The future perfect (simple)
will/won’t + have + past participle

- We use the Future Perfect Simple to talk about activities that will be finished by a certain time in the future. We often use the word “by”:
I will have gone to bed by midnight.

Slide 17 - Diapositive

5. The future perfect continuous
will/won’t + have been + verb-ing

- We use the Future Perfect Continuous to talk about how long an activity has been in progress before a moment in the future. We often use the word “by”: By 8 PM, I’ll have been revising for five hours!
