Present Continuous
We use the present continuous...
  • when we talk about things that are happening as we speak (now)
    It is raining.
    Dad is working in the garden at the moment.

  • when we do things that are different from our routine (temporary situations)
    Normally I go by bike, but today I am taking the bus.
    Dad is working at home today.

  • when we talk about things that are going to happen in the near future
    What are you doing this afternoon?

Routine is what people often do, like their daily business, including for instance work and where they live.

He is playing the guitar.
It is going well today.
We are watching that new movie.
They are listening to music.
affirmative = bevestigend (een normale zin)
  • In an affirmative sentence we create the present simple by the correct form of the verb     to be (am / are / is) and adding the present participle      (verb + ing)
verb = werkwoord
present participle = onvoltooid deelwoord
Dit is altijd het werkwoord met ing erachter, bijvoorbeeld: walking, studying, playing, etc.
