The Present Continuous tense is used to describe actions that are happening right now. 

It is also used to describe actions that are happening in the near future. Let's learn more about it!

Forming the Present Continuous Tense

The Present Continuous tense is formed by using:

 the verb 'to be'       +       ing 

For example:        You are studying for your exam.

Explain the structure of the Present Continuous tense to the students.

Give an example of a negative sentence in the Present Continuous.

1. I am studying for my exam.
2. I am not studying for my exam.
3. I studied for my exam.
4. I will study for my exam.

Present Continuous - Negative sentence

 the verb 'to be'       +    not      +    ing 

For example:            You are not studying for your  exam.

Uses of the Present Continuous Tense

The Present Continuous tense is used to describe actions happening right now. 

For example: I am writing this lesson. 

It is also used to describe actions happening in the near future. For example: I am meeting my friends tomorrow.
