Definition
The present continuous tense is 

used to describe actions happening at the moment of speaking

Form
The present continuous tense is formed: (hoe ziet het eruit)

 using the present tense of the verb 
'to be' (am, is, are) 
the present participle form of the main verb.

Usage
We use the present continuous tense for:

 actions happening right now.

 For example: 'I am eating dinner.'

temporary actions happening around the current time.

 For example: 'She is studying for her exam this week.'

We use the present continuous tense for future arrangements. For example: 'They are going to the concert tomorrow.'

Negative Form
To create the negative form of the present continuous tense, add 'not' after the verb 'to be'. 

For example: 'I am not running in the race.'

start with the verb 'to be'. 

For example: 'Are you coming to the party?'
