Je gebruikt de present continuous voor de future als je het hebt over afspraken in de toekomst/ iets wat zeker gaat gebeuren.

De tijd en/of plaats staan al vast!

I am meeting Karlijn at the pub this weekend.

We are flying to New York tomorrow.

Uitzondering 

sommige werkwoorden eindigen op een 'stomme e'

(je schrijft hem wel maar je hoort hem niet)

move - moving

drive - driving

hope - hoping

make - making

Uitzondering

sommige werkwoorden krijgen een verdubbeling van de medeklinker

Je gebruikt 'to be going to':

- wanneer je een plan hebt maar deze nog niet vaststaat

- bij voorspellingen met bewijs (geen tijd of plaats).
