Je gebruikt de present continuous voor de future als je het hebt over afspraken in de toekomst/ iets wat zeker gaat gebeuren.

De tijd en/of plaats staan al vast!

I am meeting Karlijn at the pub this weekend.

We are flying to New York tomorrow.

sommige werkwoorden eindigen op een 'stomme e'

(je schrijft hem wel maar je hoort hem niet)

move - moving

drive - driving

hope - hoping

make - making

sommige werkwoorden krijgen een verdubbeling van de medeklinker

To be going to + hele werkwoord

Je kunt ook 'to be going to' voor the future gebruiken. 

Je gebruikt 'to be going to' wanneer je een plan hebt maar deze nog niet vaststaat (geen tijd of plaats).

Maar ook voor dingen waarover je zelf geen controle hebt, zoals het weer.

I'm going to buy new boots. 

The leaves are going to fall during Autumn.
