What do I do if I don't understand word I'm hearing?

Tips on how to deal with words you don't know:

1. Ignore unimportant words.
Concentrate on what you do know!

2. Use context clues. 
What do the words around this word mean?
What will this word mean?
3. Use non-verbal clues. 
What kind of conversation is it? What is the tone like?
