Past perfect
It happened last August at the airport. A few weeks before, a group of us had decided to go to Greece together for a holiday. We were waiting in the queue at passport control when suddenly I realized that I had forgotten my passport. It was quite a shock. I hurried to a phone and rang my parents. They were working in the garden, but luckily my mother heard the phone. They found the passport and immediately drove to the airport with it.
I met them at the information desk. We had no time to talk but I had said goodbye to them earlier that morning. I ran all the way to the plane and, luckily, I had made it just in time.
