Wordorder: adverbs

An adverb is a word that describes:

 - a verb                                          

- an adjective

- another adverb

- an entire sentence

She runs quickly. 

I am really busy. 

He ran very quickly. 

Unfortunately, I can't come.

Wordorder: adverbs

1. Manner (in welke mate/hoe) 
   
2. Place & time (plaats en tijd) PieT
3. Frequency (hoe vaak)
   

               

1 + 2: Adverbs of manner, place and time

• Manner (how you do it), then place, then time
• When the information is really important, you can put it in front of the sentence
• Two adverbs of time, the more precise one comes first.

• He practiced hard to pass the test next week.
  
• After dinner she went out to see her friends.
• David bought a new pair of skis in germany last week.
  
• The snow started falling quietly around 10 pm last night
  

3. Adverbs of frequency (hoe vaak iets gebeurt)

1. Voor het hoofdwerkwoord
2. Na een vorm van 'to be'.
3. Aan het begin.
4. Aan het eind (voor nadruk geven) alleen bij: frequently, occasionally, often, sometimes, usually en normally.

1. I always forget my homework. (voor het hoofdwerkwoord)
   
2. I am usually picking up my brother around that time (na vorm 'to be')
   
3. My mom will bake cookies for me sometimes. (nadruk!)
   
4. Sometimes I get so tired of school.
