Soms gebruik je een werkwoord + -ing als een zelfstandig naamwoord. Je kunt deze vorm gebruiken na werkwoorden als love, like en hate.

Na want, promise, decide, plan, hope, ask, refuse, expect gebruik je to + het hele werkwoord.
