How to tackle a reading test

1. Take a look at the text. Focus on the title, pictures & subheadings.

2. Take a look at the amount of questions and what kind of questions they are.

3. Start answering the questions and read (parts of the text).

Multiple choice questions

1. Read the question. NOT the answers!

2. Read the correct part of the text.

3. Formulate your own answer to the question.

4. Take a look at the answer options. See if one of the answers is (almost) the samen as your own answer.

Juist/onjuist or wel/niet questions

1. Read the questions and the statements.

2. Read (parts of) the text and compare the statements to the information of the text.

3. Fill in your answer.

Open questions

1. Read the question.

2. Read (parts of) the text.

3. Read carefully what is expected of your answer.

4. Formulate your answers and write it down (often in Dutch!)

Gapfill questions

1. Read the question and the answer options.

2. Write the meaning behind the answers options (use a dictionary if necessary).

3. Read the sentence before and after gap in the text.

4. Choose your answer.
