Possessives: 's, ' and ... of ...

Vaste -s! Toch?!?

Je hebt geleerd dat woorden in het meervoud (plural) ALTIJD 

een vaste -s krijgen.

boy - boys / baby - babies.

Maar toch komt er ook 's voor in het Engels!

The boy's dog was black and white.

What are possessives?

You use possessives (bezitsvorm) when something belongs to someone or something (ownership)



Also 's with the words:

Month

Day

Year

Example: next month's tournament

Example: This year's winter season felt too long

Example: Yesterday's newspaper

Let op!

• Bij dingen of als iets bij een ding hoort gebruik je ... of ...
• For example:

   - The roof of the school.

   -The name of the ship is Lucky Dragon.

You add 's when the owner of something is a person, animal, country or organisation

Person: This is Frank's car

Animal: The dog's bowl is orange

Country: Italy's flag is green, white and red

Organisation: She often visits the club's website

When the word is a name ending in s you add ‘s

You add ' with plurals that end in -s

When the word ends in S you only add  ‘ (an apostrophe)
