Vragen met to be
Je maakt een vraag met to be door de vorm van to be (am, are, is, was, were) vooraan te zetten.

Voorbeeld: 
1. You are a football fan  --> Are you a football fan?
2. He is happy --> Is he happy?
3. They were singing yesterday --> Were they singing yesterday?

Vragen met hulpwerkwoorden
Als er een hulpwerkwoord (can, could, will, would, must) in de zin staat, kun je de zin vragend maken door het hulpwerkwoord vooraan te zetten.

Voorbeeld:
It will be rainy today  --> Will it be rainy today?
She must hurry --> Must she hurry?
They can eat an apple  --> Can they eat an apple

Vragend met do, does of did
Als er geen vorm van to be of een hulpwerkwoord in de zin staat maak je een vraag met do, does of did. Er staat dan nog een werkwoord in de zin (het hele werkwoord!).
Tegenwoordige tijd: do of does (does bij he/she/it)
vb. People live in houses --> Do people live in houses?
       She lives in a house --> Does she live in a house? (let op -s verdwijnt achter ww!)

Verleden tijd: did
vb. People lived in houses --> Did people live in houses?
       She lived in a house --> Did she live in a house?
        They went to the party --> Did they go to the party? (bij onreg. ww verandert 2e vorm naar 1e                                                                                                                        vorm)
