Als je wilt zeggen dat iets mag of niet mag (can't)

Bijvoorbeeld:

You can borrow my pen

You can't use my bike because I need it myself


let op: bij he/she/it krijgt can geen -s

Dus: he can have my pencil.

Je gebruikt "can" en "could" om te vragen of iets mag.

"Could" is altijd beleefder dan "can"

Bijvoorbeeld:

Can we eat pizza tonight?

Could I borrow your pen (please)?

Je gebruikt "be allowed to" als je wilt zeggen dat iets volgens de regels mag of niet mag.

 Dat kunnen wetten zijn, maar bijvoorbeeld ook schoolregels of spelregels.

Het werkwoord 'be' bestaat uit de vormen: am, are, is

Dus:

I am (not) allowed to.....

You are(n't) allowed to.....

He, she, it is(n't) allowed to....
