• Als de ene handeling de ander onderbrak, gebruik je de past simple (korte actie) en de past continuous (lange actie). When he was driving his car, he saw a beautiful lady.   (when)
• Als twee handelingen tegelijkertijd plaatsvinden, gebruik je twee keer de past continuous. While she was doing the dishes, he was doing his homework. (while)
• Als twee handelingen na elkaar plaatsvinden, gebruik je twee keer de past simple. He woke up and brushed his teeth. (After, then, and, later..)
