What is the difference?

Passive voice

When to use:

• When it is not important who did something
• When you don't know who did something

How to use:

• to be + verb (past participle)
• modal verb (can, could, must) + be + verb (past participle)

Examples

I open the window.

The window is opened (by me).

My dad drove my sister to school.

My sister was driven to school (by my father).

You can watch Harry Potter at the cinema now.

Harry Potter can be watched now.

Peter builds a house.
A house .... ..... by Peter
