What will we be doing today? 

1. We will discuss a mistake that has been made often in the test.

2. We will listen to a text.

3. You will make exercises with possessive pronouns (= bezittelijke voornaamwoorden).

4. During the exercises I will discuss the test with students individually.

5. When you are ready with the exercises you can work in your book.

6. When everybody is ready, we will discuss the exercises.

Goals of this lesson

After this lesson:

- you know what possessive pronouns are.

-  you are able to use the right possessive pronouns in a sentence. 

- you know the difference between its and it's.

The sentences are wrong.

Can you detect the two mistakes in the sentences? 

In each sentence is one mistake.

Think one minute in silence. Then discuss with your neighbour what you think the mistakes are. Then we discuss it together.

Its is a possessive pronoun (bezittelijk voornaamwoord) of the spider. It is the web of the spider. Its web. The spider's web.

Possessive pronouns

There are several ways to indicate possession:

1. With possessive pronouns.

This book belongs to Kate. This is her book. 

2. With 's. 

This classroom belongs to the school. It is the school's classroom.
