Why do we need to know about money?

Managing money is an important life skills.

Adults need to pay bills and work out how much things will cost.

What bills do adults need to pay?

Coins and notes have different values.

This means they are worth different amounts.

We can combine coins to make equivalent amounts.

What does equivalent mean?

Equivalent means that it has the same value or worth.

5p + 5p = 10p

We can use times tables to help  us to calculate amounts.

5 sweets that cost 10p each

is the same as

5 x 10p.
