TODAY'S GOALS
  1. You can explain in 3 steps why there is precipitation in low pressure areas (GG 55).
  2. You can explain in 3 steps why it’s dry in high pressure areas (GG 55).
  3. With the use of Buys Ballot’s law you can draw the correct wind direction between 2 pressure areas anywhere in the world (GG53 + Notes).
  4. You can give the name and location of the 7 permanent pressure areas in the world (GG 54).
  5. You can give the name and location of the 6 permanent wind systems in the world (GG 54).

THE BUYS
BALLOT LAW
  1. Air always flows from high pressure (maximum) to low pressure (minimum) over the earth’s surface.
  2. Wind does not flow in a straight line from H to L, but deflects towards the right on the northern hemisphere and the left on the southern hemisphere.
