Creative Writing Test

• Bring your dictionairies  (N-E, E-N)
• Have another look at the Lesson-Ups. 
• Make sure you know the grammar rules (past tenses + word order!) 

What to expect: 

• You have to write a 250-350 word story in 50 minutes. 
• There will be 3 prompts to choose from. 
• You have to include at least one dialogue. 
• You have to include at least one flashback.
• The character you developed has to be the story's protagonist.

Present Simple - feit, gewoonte, regelmaat.

Past Simple

You use the past simple when something happened in the past and is finished

Past Simple - Regular Verbs

After a regular verb you put '-ed'

I walk -> I walked

He walks -> He walked

They walk -> They walked

Past Simple - Regular verbs

Spelling:
Als een werkwoord eindigt op een medeklinker + -y, dan verandert de -y in -ie:

• I carry - I carried

Let op, er verandert niets als het werkwoord eindigt op klinker + -y:

• I play - I played

Als een werkwoord eindigt op -e, dan komt er in de past simple alleen een -d achter:

• I live - I lived

In de past simple wordt de laatste medeklinker verdubbeld als er één klinker voor staat:

• I drop - I dropped

• Be descriptive - make good use of adjectives and adverbs.(but don't abuse them)
• Use dialogue!
• Use the past tense.

6. Think about ways to progress the story in dialogue rather than in the narrative voice. This can be faster and more engaging.
