Past simple indicates something that happened in the past and is now a finshed action.

Add: + ed   +d  + ied
walk >> walked
close >> closed
hurry >> hurried.
Irregular verbs have their own form - these you need to learn

Use "Did" >> Did you make a question in the past simple? 
("Did" is in the past and the second verb "make" stay in its base form)

  • How do you make a negative in the past simple?
Use "Did" + not  >> I did not make a question.

I have seen the trailer for the new Paddington film.
He hasn't seen the trailer for the new Paddington film.

  • When is the present perfect used?
To indicate an action that happened in the past but is directly related to now. Think result, experience, specific time is not known.
