These three days, we are going to recreate a board game or card game with a new theme. You are going to think of a theme about a particular topic.

Choosing a theme

The game you are going to recreate, will have a theme, related to Sustainability (how to reduce the impacts of climate change), Citizenship or Relationships.

What is Sustainability?

1. Taking care of plants and animals
2. Recycling plastic bottles and paper to protect the environment
3. Eating only organic food to stay healthy
4. Using less water and electricity to save resources for the future

What is Citizenship?

1. Being a member of a country and following its laws
2. Building relationships at school and in the community

What are Relationships?

2. Sharing feelings with others

Groups

You are going to work in groups of four.

Brainstorm time!

Take some time to think of a few things:

- What game are you going to recreate?

- What theme will your game have?

- How are you going to integrate the theme into your game?

Day 1, lesson 3

Building your game

Now, we are going to start actually putting our game together. Before we start using our hands, we need to have a concrete plan.

You need to know what the objective is of your game, what will your game look like. Another thing that's very important, is to have clear rules for the game.

What about tomorrow?

- We'll will start putting our game together and play it together in class.

- Please bring a pencil case that has scissors.

Getting ready to make the game

To start putting your game together, you need to have thought about the following things:

- The choice of game

- The theme the game will have

- The rules (just the original ones, or are there new rules?)
