Present Continuous

Uitleg

Present Continuous gebruik je als iets NU bezig is.

Voorbeeld:

I am reading right now.

Listen! The dog is barking again.

We are studying at the moment.

Uitleg

Je maakt de present continuous als volgt:

am/is/are + werkwoord + ing.

Voorbeeld
I am playing the piano at the moment.

She is playing the drums now.

We are playing a game of cards right now.

Belangrijke woorden in de zin:

at the moment - op dit moment

(right) now -  nu

Look! - Kijk!

Listen! - Luister!

Hoe maak je de present continuous?

Welke signaalwoorden geven aan dat iets nu bezig is? Noem ze.

Uitleg

Vraagzinnen maken in de present continuous: 

Zet am/is/are vooraan de zin. De rest van de zin blijft hetzelfde.

voorbeeld:

You are shopping right now.

Are you shopping right now?

Ontkenningen maken in de present continuous:

Zet 'not' achter am/is/are. De rest van de zin blijft hetzelfde.

voorbeeld:

She is drinking coffee right now.

She is not drinking coffee right now. 

Uitleg

Verkorte vormen van de ontkennende vorm is:

is not   ->  isn't

are not  -> aren't

Let op!

I am not ->  I'm not 

(Nooit: amn't)
